lyrics

i need you, i want you back
i’m serious as a heart attack
i’m going to walk out that door
’cause i don’t need need you anymore

i need you, i want you back
i’m serious as a heart attack
i’m going to walk out that door
’cause i don’t need need you anymore

you don’t give up on love, whoa oh oh
you don’t give up on love, whoa oh oh
i will give up your love, whoa oh oh
you don’t give up on love, whoa oh oh

i need you, i want you back
i’m serious as a heart attack
i’m going to walk out that door
’cause i don’t need need you anymore

i need you, i want you back
i’m serious as a heart attack
and i’m going to walk out that door
’cause i don’t need need you anymore

and you don’t give up on love, whoa oh oh
you don’t give up on love, whoa oh oh
i will give up your love, whoa oh oh
i will give up your love, whoa oh oh

you don’t give up on love, whoa oh oh
you don’t give up on love, whoa oh oh
i will give up your love, whoa oh oh
i will give up your love, whoa oh oh

notes

Molly Young offered encouragement and feedback on every version of every song on this album, and lent her lovely singing voice to this one. This is what she had to say about it:

“To me: a song of singular and adulterated sweetness (“unadulterated sweetness” would not be very Ross, from what I’ve gathered). This song is humble enough that it doesn’t feel wrong to call it a ditty, but it’s the one that most often plays on a loop in my head— where I’m glad to have it for catchy mental company. I contributed a tiny sliver of background vocals—recorded in the downstairs bathroom of a house in Massachusetts—and am grateful to have collaborated, if miniscule-ly and non-contemporaneously, with the song’s author.”
