lyrics

say that you will
say that you will
and, oh, you want me to
and, oh, you want me to

say that you will
say that you will
and, oh, you want me to
and, oh, you want me to

i can’t help it if you want me to
i can’t help it if you want me to
oh, oh

i can’t help it if you want me to
i can’t help it if you want me to
oh, oh

come on now and love me too
come on now and love me too
oh, oh

say that you will (i can’t help it if you want me to)
say that you will (i can’t help it if you want me to)
and, oh, you want me to
and, oh, you want me to

say that you will (i can’t help it if you want me to)
say that you will (i can’t help it if you want me to)
and, oh, you want me to
and, oh, you want me to

notes

This was a late discovery, as I had assumed for a long time that the mp3 was simply a mistyped duplicate of the similarly named “say what you will.” But no.

In Ross’s original version, the song begins with both of its parts sung together, followed by each part being sung individually and then a long instrumental stretch. It’s unclear whether this was intentional or merely evidence that the song had been abandoned before he figured out the arrangement.

The intro became a sort of grand finale when moved to the end of the song, so that’s where I put it.
